Microsoft Excel Graph?

I am trying to make a graph in Microsoft Excel. I go to insert%26gt;chart%26gt;column graph%26gt; and it opens up a window. It has me enter a data range and i have no idea what that is. Whatever I enter comes out to have a formula error.

You know instead doing it the long way. You can first highlight the data you want to graph. Then click on the Chart Wizard icon on the toolbar (the icon is the picture of a bar graph). Then you can just choose what type of graph you want (pie, line, bar...) Last you will just need to enter the information such as title, axis...and you can also format the graph anyway you want.

You need to first enter the data you want Excel to graph. Then highlight that data and THEN go to Insert - Chart, etc.
